I was recently invited to the Chilston Park Hotel to experience an afternoon tea that included homemade scones along with a selection of finger sandwiches and pastries from the Chilston Park Hotel’s executive chef, Ross Pilcher. Not only that but we were given a stunning tour of the Chilston Park Hotel as well as the 22 acres of Chilston’s parkland and onsite lake.
The Chilston Park Hotel is a luxurious, British country house hotel in Lenham, Kent that is rich with style and charm to spare but perhaps the most remarkable aspect of this four red star hotel is its unique styling, enhanced by antiques, some as old as the 17th century manor house itself.
Set back from tree-lined lanes, the manor house at Chilston Park sits in 22 acres of parkland, making it a spectacular Ashford wedding venue featuring a two AA Rosette restaurant. The Grade I listed hotel offers a wide variety of unique feature bedrooms, from mews Classic double rooms to the Manor House master suites.
The hotel offers the ideal setting for an intimate break, a romantic wedding or an inspiring meeting venue close to London.
It is extremely exciting to experience the best that a hotel has to offer and I was so privileged to have been able to tour the entirety of the hotel and see inside some of Chilston’s most iconic rooms. The Chilston Park Hotel is completely charming and full of character but it isn’t the place to go if you’re looking for a modern getaway and rightly so; the rooms are very vintage, classic and charming and you wouldn’t expect anything else from a 17th Century Manor House.
Some of the rooms have so much space that you’ll feel like you’re at home, especially if you’re lucky enough to lounge in the bath tub in an open room whilst enjoying the atmosphere around you.
The beautiful thing about The Chilston Park Hotel is simply how unique it is. Every room is different and offers something unique and it is plain to see why so many people like visiting this little hidden gem.
The Afternoon Tea
I was super lucky to be invited to try out the Chilston Park Hotel’s afternoon tea, whilst the fabulous Lucy Chappell (Tea Specialist) From Twining’s Tea gave us a wonderful presentation about tea, advising us on serving, new trends in tea and the etiquette of the modern afternoon tea.
Afternoon Tea is one of my favourite treats. It automatically helps to make you feel a little bit special and absolutely relaxed and when you’re served an afternoon tea that is served in such suitably glamorous surroundings, you know you’re going to feel a little bit like a queen.
The sweets are always the star of the show aren’t they? Freshly baked scones with gorgeous fresh jam with thick clotted cream along with little tiny cakes and baked goods to enjoy. Utter perfection from beginning to end.
If you are looking for somewhere that wants to pamper you, wants to make you feel special and wants to go above and beyond to make your stay perfect then you need to visit this lovely place. It’s steeped in history, has fabulous grounds, many, many events and the perfect rooms to wind down and de-stress.
