Okay so I am so excited to show this gorgeous, indulgent and yet ever so simple vegan chocolate mousse with you guys. So many mousse’s use egg whites or aquafaba and whilst something as basic as using whipped chickpeas cooking water can bring incredible results – I am not its hugest fan purely because I am not the hugest fan of chickpeas. However, this vegan mousse will blow your mind purely because of how simple it is. Avocado!
Yep. You heard that right. Avocado is the Queen in this recipe and boy oh boy does it taste wonderful in sweet treats. So many people are always a little bit amazed that you can use vegetables or certain berries (avocado) in cooking because it is quite simply seen as nothing more than a savoury dish but you can do so much more with it and it’s absolutely fantastic for vegans.
The best thing about this vegan chocolate mousse is how healthy it is. Okay, sure, there is a bit of chocolate in there, (I mean, it is a chocolate mousse) and a dollop of gorgeous vegan honey but the majority of this delicious dessert is made up completely of healthy, tasty ingredients that will quench any guilty feelings you have over indulging a little.
Avocados are also 100% cholesterol-free and as Healthline state “contains both polyunsaturated and monounsaturated fats can help lower blood cholesterol levels, making avocados a heart-healthy food.”
The idea of avocado chocolate mousse isn’t as unusual as you might think, it is a pretty popular dessert and has been lingering on the health food scene for quite some time. I am sure there are many different ways of making this particular chocolate mousse, and I am sure there are a few out there that don’t taste all that tasty – avocado does have its own unique taste – but I am super confident you guys will absolutely adore this one.
