Product Review: Fudge Kitchen

With less than 5 weeks to go Fudge Kitchen are coming at us with their delicious Christmas inspired fudge with flavours including Rudolph’s Delight, Iced Vanilla Coconut, Salted Caramel and Classic Chocolate that are catered for Vegan’s as well as those that are dairy intolerant and I was super lucky enough to be sent their Dairy Free Slab Fudge Christmas Selection to review.

Fudge Kitchen get it so very right. Their fudge is handmade, made in batches and every batch is different adding to that authentic feeling we love so much in this country. I tested 4 different types of fudge and some are slightly softer whilst others have a bit more texture to them.

In particular, the salted caramel melts in the mouth whereas the coconut fudge has a lovely bit of texture to it before fading away softly like a snowflake. The best thing though, is that none of them ever falter on creaminess and flavour. Each flavour combination offers a balance of sweet decadence and a wonderful depth of flavour – quite literally the perfect albeit naughty Christmas gift.

So with Christmas on its way and more and more people thinking of the environment, their dairy free option is a fantastic gift choice that’s not only fantastic in price but also very unique and absolutely 100% does not falter on taste.

If you haven’t ever been to Fudge Kitchen, you won’t know the excitement of rich smells and rows and rows of deliciously richly coloured slabs of yummy fudge. All screaming to be eaten up! It’s clear to see why Fudge Kitchen is so popular as well as award-winning.

They care about the way they make fudge and the effort they put in. So one of the best things about fudge is that as tempting as it is to gobble it all up, fudge is completely freezable. Now you’ll only need to freeze the fudge if you have oodles of willpower which, for me, was a bit of a struggle.

BUT one of the best little kept secrets about fudge is that although it’s always best if you gobble up these delicious slabs of yumminess within a week or so, if you have forgotten that you left it in the cupboard (like you would?!). There are options….  You can melt your fudgy goodness in the microwave in short 10 second bursts, or gently warm on the hob with a splash of cream, and pour that bad boy on the nearest thing you can find – ice cream, waffles, fruit… Or into the bathtub for a shamelessly decadent fudge bath experience! Anything. Lovely. Yum!

I’ll definitely be keeping some in my freezer to use on some handmade treats in the near future too!

Dairy Free Christmas Selection retails in at £16 – 4 slice boxes are usually £17 but Fudge Kitchen can pop some collections together, like this one, which can work out at a better price.

This works out at £4 a slice and slices are usually anywhere between £5-£6 and are cut by hand so weight can vary from time to time.

Now let’s move swiftly on to the Drinking Fudge that Fudge Kitchen offer because it is just so delicious. Fudge Kitchen very kindly sent me their Drinking Fudge box to reivew and upon opening this gorgeous compact little box I was ever so impressed with how lovely the packaging was. The little parcels look like they’ve been hand packed, they are all neatly lined up next to each other in various colour combinations and the box is the perfect size for a stocking!

The flavours vary so so much as well offering such a wonderful variety for all kinds of palates. I mentioned earlier on in the blog that my favourite fudge was the Icy Coconut one, but my favourite drinking fudge was absolutely the Dark Chocolate and Sea Salt. The sweetness mixed with the subtle salty nodes made this particular drink extremely delightful and not too sweet.

My second favourite, very much a turn for the books was the Ginger Spice Drinking Fudge which offered a warming Christmassy feel, especially with the added subtlety of the caramel. I served this with some cream and grated cinnamon and a couple of crumbled caramelised pecans which gave this beauty a little bit of texture. I genuinely felt like I was surrounded by snow outside and a hot roaring fire in the living room (sadly, though it was just the radiator on and the sound of rain outside instead) but either way, still wonderful.

What I love the most though are the ways in which you can drink this decadent little treat. You can either have it hot with some dairy-free cream and some organic chopped cacao and caramelised pecan’s which I devoured or you can have it served cold. I tried both hot and cold and I loved the cold version almost as much as the hot.

I served my Chocolate Hazelnut version in a mug filled with almond milk and ice which I blended with the sachet of Drinking Fudge to create my very own frappé. Absolutely gorgeous!

This lovely box is the absolute perfect stocking filler or secret Santa gift. The flavour combinations are divine and there’s a real mix for everyone in there too. The Drinking Fudge retails in at a fantastic £10.00 and I can promise you it’s worth it. The Drinking Fudge is creamy, delicious and vegetarian friendly.

Fudge Kitchen are also reformulating all Drinking Fudge to be vegan/dairy free because they genuinely believe it doesn’t compromise the taste and means everyone can enjoy. Please keep an eye out on their website because there will be lots of exciting announcements come the New Year!

So, what’s my Christmas Gift verdict? 

Easily a 10/10. It’s perfect – for everyone. There is simply something for all, varying flavour combinations, the knowledge of the product being handmade and the cost is very reasonable. If you guys are looking for something that is a little bit different then I couldn’t recommend this product more.
