Delicious Chocolate Oreo Truffles

So last week it was Mark’s Nan’s surprise 80th birthday party and I wanted to make something handmade (this was the first time I was meeting her too) and I wanted to make a good impression. Well, it turns out that making handmade truffles are the key to just that. I made one too many, so that I could have a couple too and they’re super tasty, ridiculously easy to make and costs under £6.00 as a gift and let’s be honest, what can £6.00 really get you these days as a present?

Ingredients

  • 20 oreo cookies (you can get any kind of oreo you like)
  • oz cream cheese, softened
  • pinch sea salt
  • 250g of best dark chocolate
  • 1-2 tablespoon coconut oil
  • dried rose hips (for decor)
  • 1 tablespoon of oreo crumb

Method

  • Pop your oreos into a processor until they crumble into a powder (you might need to do this a few times).
  • Add in cream cheese and sea salt and continue to mix until the mixture forms as one.
  • Pop a tablespoon of the mix into the palm of your hand and roll into a ball. Place on a baking sheet and pop in the fridge for around an hour or so.
  • Melt the chocolate with the coconut oil until melted and shiny.
  • Once the truffles are nice and hard, use a metal kebab stick to dip into the melted chocolate and place back on the baking sheet.
  • You can decorate with anything you like but I had some rosehips left over so used these (so pretty)!! I then sprinkled the left over oreo crumb on the top.
  • Place back into the fridge until hardened and either gobble them all up or place into a gift box as a gift.

Notes

  • If you made these as a gift, it should make 20 truffles but a box around 6 inches in width and height could fit 18 (9 on one layer, and 9 on the next layer. Use parchment or chocolate separators to separate the truffles.
  • The little cases are called Petit Four cases and can be purchased from Lakeland for under £2.00
  • A little box like this can be bought from any cheap as cheerful card shop and cost me 60p.
